Job Description: IBPS PO (Probationary Officer)

About the Role

A Probationary Officer (PO) is an entry-level position in a bank, selected through the IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) examination process. As a PO, you will undergo a rigorous training period, where you will learn about various banking operations, policies, and customer service practices. This role serves as a stepping stone to higher managerial positions in the banking sector.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Service:
   • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues related to banking products and services.
   • Provide excellent customer support and ensure customer satisfaction.
2. Banking Operations:
   • Handle daily transactions including cash management, cheque processing, and account management.
   • Assist in the processing of loans, opening new accounts, and issuing ATM cards and chequebooks.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification:
  • A graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or its equivalent.
• Age Limit:
  • Generally, the age limit for applying is between 20 to 30 years, with relaxation for reserved categories as per government norms.

Selection Process

The selection process for IBPS PO typically involves three stages:

1. Preliminary Examination:
   • Objective type exam with sections on English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
2. Main Examination:
   • Objective and descriptive type exam with sections on Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and a descriptive test (Letter Writing & Essay).
3. Interview:
   • Candidates who qualify the main exam are called for a personal interview to assess their suitability for the role.
